Environmental Impact of EV Manufacturing
The production of electric vehicles (EVs), particularly the manufacturing of high-capacity batteries and mining of lithium and cobalt, may have a larger environmental impact than previously thought. This challenges the assumption that buying a new EV is always better for the environment than continuing to drive an older petrol car. A comprehensive analysis is needed to compare the environmental costs of EV production versus the ongoing emissions of petrol vehicles.
