Detecting AI-generated images is challenging due to correlated failures in single models, evolving generator capabilities, and the need for low false positive rates. Existing models can be fooled by adversarial examples and may not detect certain artifacts. The goalpost moves frequently as new generators emerge and old detection methods degrade.
