Overcoming Signal Attenuation for Low-Power Space Communication
The problem is that low-power signals, such as those from a Starlink dish with less power than a light bulb, need to be transmitted over long distances to space without fading out. This seems counterintuitive given the limitations of similar terrestrial signals, like WiFi, which degrade quickly over short distances. A challenge exists in understanding and overcoming the physical limitations that allow such weak signals to reach space.
