Understanding Socioeconomic Status Impact on Brain Development

Socioeconomic status (SES) has a strong association with brain organization in children, particularly in the primary motor/sensory cortex. This relationship was observed among 649 environmental, behavioral, health, and socioeconomic factors examined in nearly 10,000 children. The underlying brain pattern associated with SES and most other factors is centered on primary motor/sensory cortex. Further research is needed to understand and address this issue.
