Mechanical Conversion of Spherical Motion to Planar Projection

The problem is to design a purely mechanical system that converts motion on the surface of a sphere to a flat planar projection, such as a Mollweide projection. This system would ideally use joints, struts, pulleys, etc. to achieve the conversion. The challenge arises from the need to accurately and mechanically reproduce a specific planar projection from spherical motion.
