Create Metamaterial-Based Power Systems
Develop electrical power systems using metamaterials with engineered electromagnetic properties not found in natural materials. Metamaterials can manipulate electromagnetic fields in unprecedented ways, including cloaking, focusing, and enhancing electromagnetic interactions. For power systems, metamaterials could create ultra-efficient antennas for wireless power transfer, electromagnetic field concentrators for enhanced energy harvesting, and cloaking devices to protect sensitive electrical equipment. The challenge involves designing metamaterial structures for specific electromagnetic properties, manufacturing complex three-dimensional metamaterial devices, and integrating metamaterials with conventional electrical systems. Applications include wireless power transfer with near-perfect efficiency, electromagnetic interference elimination, and compact high-performance electrical devices. Success would enable breakthrough improvements in wireless power technology, create electrical systems with unprecedented electromagnetic control, and provide new tools for electromagnetic design.
