Create Biological Regeneration Technologies
Develop biomedical systems that can regenerate any damaged or lost human tissue, organ, or body part to restore complete function. Regenerative technologies would stimulate the body's natural healing processes, provide scaffolds and signals for tissue regrowth, and guide regeneration to restore perfect anatomical and functional integrity. Current regenerative medicine is limited to simple tissues and cannot regenerate complex organs or body parts. The challenge involves understanding the biological mechanisms of regeneration, developing technologies that can guide complex tissue regeneration, and creating systems that restore both structure and function. Applications include regenerating lost limbs with complete sensation and motor function, repairing spinal cord injuries to restore paralyzed patients, and regenerating damaged organs to eliminate the need for organ transplants. Success would eliminate permanent disability from injury or disease, provide alternatives to organ transplantation, and enable the human body to heal any damage completely.
