Create Photonic Quantum Computers
Develop quantum computers based on photons that can operate at room temperature and potentially achieve scalable quantum computation. Photonic quantum computing uses particles of light (photons) as qubits, which naturally resist decoherence and can operate at room temperature. However, photons don't interact strongly with each other, making it challenging to create the entangling operations needed for quantum computation. The challenge involves developing efficient photonic quantum gates and scaling photonic systems to useful sizes. Success would provide a pathway to room-temperature quantum computing with natural resistance to decoherence.
