Create Self-Repairing Robots
Develop robotic systems that can diagnose their own problems, perform self-maintenance, and even self-repair when components fail or become damaged. Current robots require human intervention for maintenance and repair, limiting their autonomy and reliability in remote or dangerous environments. Self-repairing robots would need to monitor their own health, detect failures, access spare parts or materials, and perform repair operations using their own manipulators or specialized repair modules. This challenge involves advances in self-diagnosis, modular design, automated repair techniques, and materials science. Success would enable truly autonomous robots that can operate independently for extended periods.
