Solve Time-Reversed Statistics
Develop statistical methods that can infer past events from present observations with the same accuracy as predicting future events from past observations. Current statistics is asymmetric with respect to time direction. Time-reversed statistics would enable perfect reconstruction of past events, develop retrodictive statistical methods, and potentially enable statistical time travel through data analysis. This challenge involves temporal statistics, information theory, and causality analysis. Success could enable perfect reconstruction of historical events from present evidence and could reveal new principles about the relationship between time, causality, and statistical inference.
