Develop Ocean Monitoring and Protection Systems
Oceans are 95% unexplored while facing pollution, overfishing, and climate change impacts, yet current monitoring is extremely limited. This challenge requires deploying vast underwater IoT networks to monitor ocean health, track marine life, detect pollution, and enable sustainable ocean management. Barriers include underwater communication, power delivery, sensor durability, data collection scale, and harsh ocean environmental conditions. Without comprehensive ocean monitoring, marine ecosystems will collapse, ocean resources will be depleted, and ocean-related climate changes will go undetected. Success could enable sustainable fisheries management, prevent ocean pollution, protect marine biodiversity, improve climate change understanding, and unlock ocean resources sustainably while preserving marine ecosystems for future generations.
