Engineer Synthetic Immune Systems
Biological immune systems have limitations, yet we could potentially design synthetic immune systems with enhanced capabilities for human health and beyond. This challenge involves creating artificial immune systems that can protect against threats biological systems cannot handle. Barriers include synthetic biology complexity, integration with biological systems, safety considerations, and performance optimization. Without synthetic immune systems, we will remain limited by biological immune capabilities, protection against engineered threats will be inadequate, and immune enhancement will be constrained. Success could provide enhanced immune protection, defend against engineered biological threats, create customizable immune systems, and transcend biological immune limitations while advancing synthetic immunology.
