Overcome Biofilm-Associated Infections

Biofilms protect bacteria from antibiotics and immune responses, causing 80% of chronic infections, yet we cannot effectively treat biofilm-associated infections. This challenge involves understanding biofilm biology and developing treatments that can penetrate and disrupt protective biofilms. Barriers include biofilm architecture, antibiotic resistance, immune evasion, and treatment delivery challenges. Without biofilm solutions, chronic infections will persist, medical devices will continue failing, and infection treatment will remain inadequate. Success could treat chronic infections effectively, prevent medical device infections, improve infection outcomes, and provide new therapeutic approaches while eliminating biofilm-protected infections.
