Create Universal Methods for Reducing Prejudice

Prejudice based on race, religion, nationality, and identity affects billions, causing discrimination, violence, and social fragmentation. Despite decades of research and intervention attempts, prejudice persists and sometimes increases during times of stress or competition. Current approaches like contact theory and education show limited effectiveness across contexts. This challenge requires identifying universal psychological mechanisms that create prejudice and developing interventions that work across all cultures and contexts. Barriers include the adaptive nature of in-group preference, cultural variation in prejudice expression, resistance to change, and measurement challenges. Without effective solutions, prejudice will continue fueling conflict, preventing cooperation, limiting human potential, and causing suffering. Success could eliminate the psychological roots of discrimination, enable peaceful coexistence, improve intergroup cooperation, and create truly inclusive societies worldwide.
