Develop Universal Methods for Learning Engagement

Student engagement strongly predicts learning outcomes, yet many students are disengaged from education, leading to poor achievement and dropout. Current engagement methods are inconsistent and don't address underlying psychological needs. This challenge requires understanding what universally engages students in learning and developing methods that create deep engagement for all learners. Barriers include individual differences in interests and motivations, cultural factors affecting engagement, age-related changes in engagement, and balancing engagement with educational requirements. Without universal engagement methods, many students will continue disengaging from education, learning potential will be wasted, dropout rates will remain high, and educational systems will fail to inspire students. Success could engage all students in learning, improve educational outcomes through increased engagement, reduce dropout rates, and create learners who are intrinsically motivated to continue learning throughout life.
