Off-target effects in gene editing

Current gene editing technologies like CRISPR-Cas9 have limitations, including off-target effects where the editor molecule cuts DNA at incorrect locations. This occurs because a single molecule cannot reliably distinguish an exact match from a near-match in the genome. This problem leads to unintended edits and potential harm.
