Reducing Medical Malpractice Liability through Apologies

The effectiveness of apology laws in reducing medical malpractice liability is uncertain. Despite being enacted in 39 states, there is little evidence that these laws achieve their goal. In fact, the analysis of malpractice claims data suggests that apology laws may increase rather than decrease medical malpractice liability risk.
