Understanding the link between infectious mononucleosis and multiple sclerosis

Research has found an association between having infectious mononucleosis and an increased risk of developing multiple sclerosis. The underlying mechanisms and causal relationships are not well understood. Further study is needed to elucidate the connection between Epstein-Barr virus infection and MS development.
