Protecting White-Hot Tungsten Heating Filaments from Oxidation

A white-hot tungsten rod used as an electric heating filament is sensitive to oxidation at high temperatures. The goal is to find a suitable coating to protect it from normal atmospheric conditions. The current proposed solution is ytterbium oxide (Yb2O3), but its effectiveness is uncertain.
