Optimizing Node Utilization in Kubernetes Clusters
A FinOps problem arises when a few pods keep entire nodes alive in a Kubernetes cluster, leading to underutilization of resources. The issue is caused by constraints such as pod disruption budgets, local storage, and strict affinities. This results in nodes being mostly idle but unable to be consolidated, causing frustration from the FinOps side.
